(Just to piss brenda off.)
Diablo III. Why haven’t I bought it? Well lets look at a few reasons.
- There is a heavy aspect of casualization (more into this later)
- There is a cash shop (more into this later)
- It is an unfinished product
- There is no PvP
- Getting good drops is more about grinding than about luck and choosing one right for you
Now with these main points lets delve into it further.
Casualization: Diablo III very much about being an unstoppable killing machine with infrequent use of instant health potions, mostly relying on your ridiculous life leech and overall invulnerability. Even on harder difficulties all you get are more enemies with more HP, and more damage, which still isn’t all that challenging. Just scaling up the stats isn’t what harder modes should do to make a game more difficult. Game difficulty should create more places to go, more intelligent enemies, more abilities at their disposal, not just a little harder stats. This game is meant for people who just want to watch shit explode on their screen, not people looking for a fun challenge.
Cash shop: This is one of the worst ideas I’ve ever seen. Rewarding players who put their time and love into a game with the same things another player can just buy with a paypal is fucking stupid. You can get ANY ITEM IN THE GAME at the cash shop and $1 from any sale, as well as %15 of the remaining profit, as well as Paypal or bank account deductions. That means you’re losing a shit ton of cash, players can pay for items instead of actually working for them, and it removes the “Man I EARNED this weapon, anyone else with this weapon deserves it as much as I do.” feel. This is not a game anymore, this is not for fun. This is made purely for profit, for rewarding lazy players with fat bank accounts. This is creating very good opportunities for foreign and domestic gold farmers, which ruin the FUN of a game. Games are supposed to be FUN, right?
Unfinished Product: Diablo III is a completely unfinished game. Just because you’ve taken over a decade on creating a game doesn’t mean you should release it when it’s unfinished. In fact, it means it should have been released fucking YEARS ago. It means you have no fucking excuse to release an unfinished piece of shit like this. Missing classes, SHIT servers which you’ve spent shit money on to maximize profits, you have no excuse for having these server troubles, your unoptimised game was obviously going to have huge day one server traffic and you need to be PREPARED for that. Blizzard’s been a game company for years, they’ve had this experience again and again and there’s no excuse for being unprepared. Releasing an unfinished product after all these years is terrible.
No PvP: This is part of it being an unfinished product. Without such a core aspect of the game… Do I even have to talk about this? It’s so self explanatory. It’s so fucking sad. Fuck me.
Drop System: It takes HOURS to get a magical item and even longer to get a rare. This game is about grinding away until that little chance of finding an item pops one out of a monster’s shitter. It has to be a tiny chance because they’re just so fucking easy to kill. Grinding hours away and cash shops and… fuck. Fuck this game man.
A little unorganised, especially towards the end, but you get the point.
I know most of you are women, show this to your boyfriends, your guy friends, your gurrrrl gamers.
